In the past, Terry has held the positions of Chief Engineer and Vice President. Terry joined the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in April 1966,

Terry was awarded a Life Membership in December 1980 and in February 2018, was provided a Tribute from the Delaware House of Representatives for his volunteerism and dedicated service the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and surrounding communities. Terry continues to perform repairs and maintenance on the fire stations’ telecommunication, radio, audio / visual equipment and provides technical advice on a myriad of operations.

In July 2023, Terry was appointed as Indian River's Grand Marshal of the 70th Anniversary Parade in Oak Orchard-Riverdale.
