In the past, Steven has held the positions of Chief, Deputy Chief, 1st Assistant Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief, Captain, Vice President, DVFA Delegate, DVFA Alternate Delegate, Fire Recorder, and Training Officer. Steven serves on the Entertainment, Membership, Accident Investigation & Evaluation, and Truck Acquisition committees. Steven also has been awarded the DE State Fire Chiefs Association President, DE State Fire Chiefs Association President, IR Chief's Award, Hurst - Jaws of Life - Green Cross , Sussex County Volunteer Firefighters Association President, IR Incident Top Responder, Hurst - Jaws of Life - Green Cross , IR Incident Top Responder, Sussex County Fire Chiefs Association President, IR Incident Top Responder, IR Firefighter of the Year, and IR Firefighter of the Year awards.
