Story

Nature: William F. Tobin, Jr., DVFA Immediate Past President Acknowledged

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company held its Annual Firefighter Appreciation Banquet at Baywood Greens Clubhouse and recognized many members for their community contributions and volunteerism. The Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association (DVFA) Immediate Past President receives special acknowledgement.

Over the past years, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company has flourished in many environments and has become recognized as a viable fire suppression enterprise that is compromised of many diverse partnerships. This organization has expanded in size, capacity, and reputation! The collaboration amongst neighboring companies has been significant and yields a tremendous allegiance of friendship and mutual respect throughout the State of Delaware.

Over the years, a confidant and friend has been instrumental in much of this success and prestige. We have collaborated on many financial and political fronts to enhance the strength of Delaware’s volunteer fire service as a whole and allowing Indian River to prosper in the forefront. These partnerships have yielded a string of appointments to many state and county positions filled by the volunteers of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company. This collaboration has yielded friendships and partnerships which included attendance and participation at CFIS, FDIC, DVFA, state and county conventions, as well as formulating many activities with state and county elected officials to enhance the standing of Delaware’s volunteer fire service. Examples of these activities include – shopping and pricing equipment & apparatus; attending conferences, funerals, dinners and events throughout the United States with specific emphasis on events in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, DC; as well as enticing competent and capable persons to serve with some of our affiliate organizations.

On behalf of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to a “true” friend and mentor to Chief Deery and President Miller for his endless devotion to the communities and residents that we serve.

It is with much pride that we present this token of our appreciation to our friend from Memorial Fire Company, honorary confidant from Indian River, and our mentor from the east – Immediate Past President of the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association, Current Delaware Fire Prevention Commissioner – William F. Tobin, Jr. who has assisted us over the past years and we cannot begin to say “thank you.”

Please join us in recognizing William F. Tobin, Jr.
