Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Oak Orchard Rd and John J W , 19966

On Friday morning, October 23^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway approaching the Oak Orchard Road Intersection.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a rear-end type collision when vehicles were slowing for the traffic light involving three vehicles.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews coordinated traffic control, patient stabilization, fluid and debris recovery and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a black Honda Civic struck the rear of a white Infinity Q70 which also struck the rear of a white Ford Super Duty Pick up causing injury and damage.  The Honda suffered front-end damage and airbag deployment, the Infinity suffered both front and rear end damage which the Ford pick up suffered rear-end type damage.  A total of three persons were evaluated with one being transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
