Nature: Vehicle in Floodwater - River Road - Oak Orchard / Riverdale Area

On Saturday afternoon, September 26th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle in floodwater, disabled and in the roadway.  Additional emergency alerts included the additional emergency response apparatus assigned to the Long Neck area via the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team - EVAC-1 and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a vehicle in the floodwater.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-14 (high water response vehicle) and EVAC-1 from the Oak Orchard facility. 

Emergency response crew assignments were to identify and evaluate the situation and offer assistance to the motorist.

It appears that a silver Subaru Impreza did not heed the floodwater signage and attempted to drive through the water and become disabled.  Emergency response personnel assisted with the efforts to extricate the vehicle occupant(s) and left the vehicle for pending towing operators to retrieve.

This area of River Road was clearly marked with road closed signage and standing tidal saltwater conditions present in the roadway.
