Nature: Vehicle Accident – John J. Williams Highway @ Mount Joy Road

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Mount Joy Road, 19966

On Sunday, August 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at the Mount Joy Road intersection. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a two-vehicle accident with unknown status of injuries based upon the abruptness of the reporting party.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization where needed, patient stabilization where needed, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery as well as overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a black KIA Telluride SUV and a black KIA Forte sedan collided at the intersection. 

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway intersection for the duration of the incident. 

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
