Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Entrapment – River Road near Warwick Park

Location: River Rd and Warwick Cove / Warwick Park, 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, August 18^th, the Indian River (80) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment on River Road near Warwick Cove near the entrance to Gull Point.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 and the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a single vehicle incident with possible entrapment.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Utility 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, traffic control, assistance with patient removal from the vehicle and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that a gray Toyota 4Runner left roadway running into a drainage culvert.  The occupant required medical attention.  The aviation unit was not utilized.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete closure of River Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
