Nature: Electrical Hazard - Transformer Fire

On Thursday evening, August 6^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an electrical hazard involving a transformer fire on Ok-waw Avenue in Riverdale Park. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial evaluation upon accessing the area which identified that the electricity was out in the area of concern.  Additional information was that multiple transformers may have been impacted and large tree limbs were hanging from the primary wires. 

The electrical observations were communicated to the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center for information sharing with the respective utility service provider.

Emergency response units were reduced to Tanker 80.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with the incident.
