Nature: Smoke Investigation

Location: 32034 Riverside Plaza Drive, 19966

On Sunday evening, July 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a smoke investigation in the vicinity of Riverside Plaza Drive off of Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported as black smoke from near the Riverside Apartments.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80, Tanker 80 and Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were to evaluate the area and identify the source of the black smoke.  Additional incoming information placed the area of concern closer to Nelsa Lane or Oak Meadows Drive and possibly a shed fire.

The incident address was amended to be 27528 Oak Meadows Drive in the Oak Meadows development off Oak Orchard Road.

It was identified to be a control burn in a burn container but unknown materials.  The property occupant was identified of the proper burn procedures and requested to allow the fire to burn out.

All emergency response units were cleared of the incident and authorized to return to their respective quarters.
