Address: 33584 Windswept Dr, 19966

Cross Streets: Sterling Blvd/Dead End

On Friday, July 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to an automatic fire alarm on Windswept Drive residential section of the Peninsula.  This incident was an automatic fire alarm sounding within the commercial residential structure.

Emergency response units included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.

It was identified that there was construction on-going at the facility, an initial evaluation of the facility did not yield any concerns.  The systems were silenced and the facility was place don officer’s call for 72 hours.  The security personnel was advised to consult with their respective maintenance contractor and the elevators were left shut off.

Faulty fire alarms, false alarms, and malfunctioning fire alarms are one of the most frustrating issues with fire alarm systems that many fire departments are encountering on a widespread basis. They can occur for various reasons, such as dust, insects, cooking, construction, or cigarette smoke, etc. If there are issues that are prevalent within your structure, please make corrective action measures to mitigate these issues.

All emergency response apparatus was authorized to return to their respective quarters.
