Nature: Structure Fire

Location: 26079 Milby Circle The Villas At Walden, DE 19951

On Tuesday afternoon, April 21^st, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure on Milby Circle in the Villas at Walden off Sloane Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics. It was reported by a passerby that the saw smoke coming from a residential structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Long Neck facility and Engine 80 and Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial exterior evaluation which identified a hydrant just before the residence on Milby Circle; two story residence, end of the townhouse row with fire extinguished.  The incident was downgraded to just Indian River units for check for extension and overhaul were needed.

It appears that the fire originated on the exterior of the building in a mulchy area which caused the fire to ignite the siding of the residential structure.  A quick thinking good Samaritan obtained a water hose and suppress and saturated the area prior to arrival of emergency response units.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
