Nature: Brush / Mulch Fire

On Sunday morning, April 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a brush and/or mulch fire incident near the Dunkin Donut on Plaza Drive in Long Neck. It was reported to be mulch and bush smoking in front of the drive-thru window near the Dunkin Donut location.

Emergency response apparatus from the Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard location and Engine 80 from the Long Neck location as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included suppression assistance with a water can and wet water (a fire suppressant agent) to fully extinguish the smoldering area.

It appears that a section of mulch and bush were ignited as a result of a discarded cigarette and the windy conditions. 

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic during the incident.

All units were authorized to return to their respective quarters upon completion.
