Nature: Commercial Structure Fire – Red Mill Inn – Assist Lewes (82)

Location: 16218 Coastal Hwy., Lewes

On Monday, March 30^th, the Indian River (80), Milton (85), Rehoboth Beach (86) and Memorial (89) fire companies were alerted to assist Lewes (82) Fire Department with a commercial structure fire on Coastal Highway.  Additional emergency response units included the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be a working structure fire.

It was immediately notated that the bulk of the fire was knocked and efforts to reduce the response assignment were implemented.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were cancelled.

Fire damages units at Red Mill Inn in Lewes By Matt Pencek

LEWES, Del. — The Lewes Fire Department responded to a fire at the Red Mill Inn off Coastal Highway early Monday morning.

The call came in around 6:30 a.m., with crews arriving to find damage to two units located in a smaller structure separate from the main portion of the inn.

At least one person has been displaced. State Police were directing traffic at the entrance of the Inn. The Lewes Fire Department had the fire under control within 45 minutes of the call. Further details about what caused the fire or the extent of the damage have not yet been released.
