Nature: Structure Fire – Residential

Address: 412 Circle Rd Winding Creek Village, DE 19966

Cross Streets: Southwind Rd/Pond Rd

On Sunday morning, February 15th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Lewes (82) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure on Circle Road in the Winding Creek development off Banks Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Fire Police. It was reported to be working alarm with potential for two trapped animals.  Initial arriving units identified smoke showing.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial 360 size-up with reporting of smoke showing on all four sides of a two-story residential type structure.  Incident Command was established; crews were tasked with fire suppression lines activation; setting up ground ladders and conducting a primary interior search which were all negative. When additional units arrived, a back-up line was stretched to the rear and vertical ventilation was initiated. A rapid intervention team (RIT) was established on side A.

It appears there was a good amount of fire in the attic area of this residential structure.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident.

The Georgetown (77) Fire Company was alerted to provide a standby cover-up assignment for Indian River during this incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.

The were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
