Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Just North of Mount Joy Road

On Wednesday evening, July 29th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Cannon Road just off of Mount Joy Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle crash.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, engine e#80-1 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation, traffic control, patient assessment, and vehicle stabilization pending arrival of emergency medical services providers.

It appears that a black compact car was traveling along Cannon Road approaching a curve and failed to successfully navigate the curve leaving the roadway striking trees and a pole. The rain slick surfaced appears to have been a contributing factor.

The Delaware State Fire Police closed this section of Cannon Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
