Nature: Residential Fire

Early June 14th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82), and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a structure fire on Flipper Road in the Pot Nets Bayside development off of Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a smoke condition throughout the interior of the structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility; 80 Command, Tanker 80 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider, and the Delaware State Fire Marshall.

Emergency crew assignments included interior suppression efforts, ventilation, water supply, and overhaul. 

Initially, it was reported to be a smoke condition throughout the interior of the residential structure with all occupants of the structure out of the building.  Additionally, two occupants desired to be evaluated by emergency medical responders.  Incident Command arrived and provided an initial size-up and upgraded to a working alarm as well as requesting the State Fire Marshall to respond.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control and scene assessment for responding apparatus.

There were no reported firefighter injuries.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
