Nature: Structure Fire

Location: Across the Street from 30908 Crepe Myrtle Dr., Millsboro, DE 19966

 

On Sunday evening, July 8th, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83), and Georgetown (77) fire companies were alerted for a working multi-residential structure fire across from 30908 Crepe Myrtle Drive in the Gull Point development.  It was reported to have smoke coming the garage area of the structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80, Rescue 80, and Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police, the Delaware State Police, the Delaware State Fire Marshall’s Office, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical services provider.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression to prevent extensions and provide suppression, ventilation, incident mitigation, water supply operations, salvage and overhaul of the interior portion of the residential structure, firefighter rehab operations, manpower pool operations, et. al.

It was reported by neighbors that smoke was being emitted from the garage area of the residential structure.  The local EMS provider arrived on-scene and notified responding units that heavy smoke and fire was prevalent from the structure and efforts were commencing to evacuate the structure.  Indian River Command arrived and provided additional information and initial assignments.  Tanker 80 initiated multiple fire suppression lines as well as additional lines to address the forward progress and spread of the fire into other units.  Other arriving apparatus were assigned to install roof ladders for ventilation operations, manpower resources, water resources, ladder operations, and others.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided scene control.

The Delaware State Police were requested to the scene.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
