Nature: Structure Fire
Location: 2 Harbor Rd, Malone's
Bayside, Millsboro, DE 19966

Early Sunday morning, March 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire on Harbor Road in the Malone's Bayside development off of Long Neck Road.  It was immediately upgraded to a residential structure fire with possible occupant entrapments.  Additional resources from Lewes (82), Millsboro (83), Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency medical service providers were included in the upgraded dispatch.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 and Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as Engine #80-3 and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included a request to immediately mitigate the propane tank venting issues, initiate fire suppression and protection lines in order to conduct a primary and secondary search for potential trapped occupant(s), protection of residential exposures, ventilation, and interior and exterior fire suppression assignments.  Additional resources were needed for a propane tank leak after the incident due to the lengthy response time from the provider.  Ancillary utility service providers included Delaware Electric Cooperative, Suburban Propane, Long Neck Water, the Delaware State Police and the Delaware State Fire Marshall Office.

It appears that the initial fire reporting included a vehicle (golf cart type) fire that ultimately spread to nearby structures being a shed and house.  Firefighters conducted a primary residential search in specific reported areas and located one residential occupant and a canine.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control and scene security during the incident.

The Delaware State Police were called to the incident to assist.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.

There were no reported firefighter injuries.

Additional information will be provided as soon as available.
