Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Indian Mission Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Thursday evening, February 1st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on John J. Williams Highway and Indian Mission Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.  Additional resources were requested from the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider, the Delaware State Police Aviation Units and Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU), as well as the Delaware Department of Transportation.

It appears that that a street sweeper and a motorcycle collided at or near the intersection.

The Delaware State Police Aviation unit was cancelled by the Sussex County Paramedics on-scene.

The Delaware Department of Transportation responded to assist with traffic control due to the extended nature of the crash investigation.  Traffic patterns in the area are restricted to allow for the investigation phase.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
