Early Sunday morning, January 15th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted and responded to three separate vehicle accidents within the fire district.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

The first vehicle accident was on Long Neck Road involving a black Jeep SUV that lost control and overturned while traveling on Long Neck Road. The Jeep rolled over onto its side. The Sussex County Paramedics and local emergency services provider attended to the vehicle’s occupant.

The second vehicle accident was on Warwick Road and involved a small compact car that was traveling on Warwick Road and did not realize that the road was a dead end and ran into the river. The operator did not require any medical attention. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control was alerted for the incident as well.

The third vehicle accident was on Apple Street in Bay City just off of Long Neck Road. It was involving a red SUV type vehicle that failed to successfully navigate the roadway striking a utility pole and overturning causing the occupant to be trapped inside the vehicle. The utility pole needed a complete replacement.

The Delaware State Police and related agencies are investigating the incidents.
