Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: 28027-28042 Layton Davis Road, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, August 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident near of the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Layton Davis Road. It was reported to be a single vehicle with smoke being emitted from under the interior dash.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as Engine #80-5 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crews were to assist with vehicle stabilization and ascertain the source of the smoke as well as coordinating traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a silver Ford Mustang was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway and failed to successfully navigate a curve at the intersection of Layton Davis Road striking a utility pole. The occupant of the vehicle refused any medical attention.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
