Nature: Indian River’s Fire Prevention Initiative

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce a new fire prevention initiative and will collaborate with the Long Neck Elementary School, the Boys & Girls Club of Oak Orchard-Riverdale as well as local community churches and other organizations to spread the word that “…. Only Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives” and to promote NFPA’s 2015 Fire Prevention Slogan – Hear the Beep where you sleep!

This initiative will allow us to the renew the fire prevention presentation board at the Long Neck Elementary School with routine and monthly updates; allow integration for grade appropriate classrooms with engagement of relevant fire prevention topics as well as allow for different presentations with various community entities. The activity take away will be the magnets which encourage monthly testing of smoke detectors.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is willing to bring this practicum exercise to your organization. It will include the placement of smoke detectors for actual testing of non-working smoke detector devices and then a working smoke detector device mounted, side by side, on a podium type pedestal device.
