Early Monday morning, July 27^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to provide a stand-by cover up assignment for the Millsboro (83) Fire Company and then changed to Dagsboro (73) Fire Company while many volunteer fire companies in Delaware and neighboring Maryland fought a structure fire in Selbyville, Delaware.

It appears that the local entertainment establishment – Pomeroy’s caught fire during the early hours and quickly engulfed the entire facility.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.

UPDATE: Probe continues into Selbyville bar - restaurant fire

A fire destroys Pomeroy's, a restaurant and bar in the 38,000-block of Dupont Boulevard just north of the state line in Selbyville.

Flames and smoke were pouring from the two-story building when firefighters arrived early Monday morning.

The establishment was not open at the time, and there were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the cause of the fire, and anyone with helpful information is asked to call 302-856-5600.
