Nature: Mutual Aid Assistance - Medical Emergency – Lift Assistance

Location:  Pot Nets Coveside

On Monday, November 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad with a lifting assist assignment in the Pot Nets Coveside development off of Long Neck Road.

Emergency response units included Utility 80-11 and Command 80 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-8 from the Oak Orchard facility.

The fire department medical assist assignment involves a team of trained firefighters who respond to calls to assist individuals who have need assistance at the request of the local EMS providers. This service is crucial for the community, especially for seniors and those with mobility issues. The assignment includes the emergency medical service provider assessing the individual's condition and using appropriate equipment. The fire department lift assist assignment is a vital part of their community outreach and extends beyond emergency response to encompass the everyday needs of residents.

All fire company personnel and fire company emergency response apparatus for medical assist assignment were alerted on two different occasions with the first incident cancelled prior to arrival at the incident location.

The second incident response was completed with the transfer of the person to nearby medical facilities.

Upon completion of the assignment, all emergency response apparatus were authorized to return to their respective station.
