Cross Streets: Sterling Blvd/Dead End

On Sunday afternoon, October 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fire alarm sounding at a residential location on Seaspell Lane in the Peninsula development off of Bay Farm Road.  It was reported to be a first floor smoke detector activation (Zone 13).

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Command 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial exterior evaluation as well as an interior evaluation before identifing a faulty detector activation.

It was reported that there was not any need for the fire department via the alarm reporting company; however, a rationale for the activation could not be identified via the reporting agency; therefore, fire company response continued.

After evaluation, all emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective stations.
