Nature: Mutual Aid Response – Assist with Search – Delaware State Police

Address: Holly Lake Campsite - 23632 Section 4 Way, 19966

Cross Streets: Schell Rd/Dead End

On Thursday, September 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Sussex County Emergency Operation Drone Team were alerted to assist the Delaware State Police with a search.  These mutual aid emergency response resources were requested by the Delaware State Police to assist with a terrain search for a missing child.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-8 with 80 UTV 2 and Utility 80-13 as well as Deputy 80 and Utility 80-11 with 80 UTV 1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   Additional responses included the Sussex County Emergency Operations Drone Team and operators as well as representation from the Delaware State Fire School.

Emergency response crews were assigned specific search areas via grid sectors and were searching for a five (5) year child missing from the immediate area.  A specific description of clothing and physical appearance of the child was provided to searchers.

It appears that the child was last seen in the area of the Holly Lake Campsite Section 800-1300.

During the search, the child was located at a residential location off Beaver Dam Road and reunited with his parents.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to the command center and then their respective stations.
