On Saturday, September 5^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident inside a residential location.  It was reported that they could not shut the gas off with a kitchen cooking appliance.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility; Incident Command 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews coordinated an interior and exterior evaluation as well as locating the utility service disconnects and obtaining meter readings.  The propane services were shut off to the residential structure and the utility service providers were notified and requested to respond to the incident location.

It appears that a gas appliance could not be shut off within the residential location causing an odor of gas inside.  The utility service provided was notified.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control assistance within the development.

All emergency response apparatus were authorized to return after consultation with the home occupants.
