Nature: Vehicle Accident - John J. Williams Highwy & Mount Joy Road intersection

On Friday morning, September 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway approaching the Mount Joy Road intersection.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  It was reported to be a rear-end type collision in the westbound lanes before Mount Joy Road.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that silver Ford Fusion struck the rear end of a blue Jeep Compass causing injury and damage to occupants and vehicles involved.  The EMS providers coordinated emergency services for the injured.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the incident as Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for another emergency incident within the fire district.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
