• Automatic Fire Alarm Incidents:

On Saturday, August 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for two commercial automatic fire alarm incidents at the same multi-story, multi-residential structure on Windswept Drive in the Peninsula development off Bay Farm Road.

Emergency response units included Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility.  After evaluation, all units were cleared. Faulty alarms are common and can be caused by dust, insects, cooking, or cigarette smoke, urging building owners to address recurring issues.

• Carbon Monoxide Detector Incidents:

On Saturday, August 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for two different carbon monoxide incidents within the district and both were faulty detectors.

In order to ameliorate these occurrence, Indian River recommends:

• Checking detector types and locations.

• Upgrading to modern multi-sensing detectors.

• Protecting manual call points in high-traffic areas.

• Ensuring regular maintenance.
