Nature: Automatic Crash Notification

On Thursday evening, July 23rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for an automatic crash notification in the area of Long Neck Road and Ridgewood Road. 

All emergency response units were cancelled after emergency responding personnel could not locate any vehicle accident or cellular devices in the area.

Automatic Crash Notification (ACN) systems use calibrated sensors (accelerometers, impact sensors, etc.) to measure sudden changes in motion or force. A Sensing Diagnostic Module analyzes this data to determine if a crash has occurred. If detected, the system sends the information — including GPS location, travel direction, speed, and crash severity — to an emergency call center
