On Friday, July 3rd, the Indian River (80), Millsboro (83) and Gumboro (79) fire companies were alerted to assist the Georgetown (77) Fire Company with a structural fire on Fairway West Drive in Golf Village.  Additional emergency alerts included the Georgetown American Legion Ambulance, the Sussex County Paramedics and the Delaware State Fire Marshal.  It was reported to be a working fire in a detached two-car garage with exposures to the residential structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crew assignments included assist with fire suppression tactics, water supply, manpower resources to the designated area and water supply if needed.

It was initially reported as smoke in a detached garage with additional information from first arriving personnel as fully involved and about to collapse.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control and scene access limitation.

The EMS personnel provided rehab and assistance as needed.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating.
