Nature: Vehicle Accident

On Monday, May 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of the McDonald’s.  Additional emergency alerts included the Millsboro and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad EMS units. It was reported to be a multi-vehicle, rear-end type collision involving a trash truck, maroon Ford Edge, and a white KIA Soul. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 and Traffic Control 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization, traffic control, as well as overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that the trash truck created a chain reaction type collision on John J. Williams Highway.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
