Nature: Vehicle Fire

On Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Weis Market at the Nanticoke Crossing Shopping Center.  It was reported to be a vehicle on fire in the parking lot.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80 from a designated canvas assignment in the Long Neck area, Brush 80 from the Long Neck facility and Chief80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were assigned to evaluate and suppression the fire and to coordinate the mitigation activities associated with the incident.

It appears that a black Chevrolet pick up was on fire in the parking lot.  The fire was suppressed upon arrival of the first emergency response apparatus.

After evaluation and verification of full suppression al emergency response apparatus were authorized to return to their respective stations or designated assignments.
