Nature: Elevator / Escalator Rescue

On Sunday morning, March 8^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an elevator rescue incident in the Carillon Woods Apartment Complex on Harvard Avenue just off Indian Mission Road.  It was reported that a person was stuck in the elevator.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignment included incident evaluation, assistance with elevator occupant extrication, shut off of the elevator services and overall incident mitigation.

It appears that the elevator became struck between floors and assistance was needed to help get the elevator occupant out.  After extrication, the residents were apprised to utilize the stairwell until a certified elevator mechanic performed an evaluation.

All units were authorized to return to the respective quarters.
