Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: Long Neck Rd and Ridgewood Rd Pot Nets Creekside, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, December 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Long Neck Road and Ridgewood Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Millsboro EMS, and the Sussex County Paramedics.  It was reported to be someone that they need an ambulance and possibly a head-on motor vehicle accident.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization and assistance to Paramedics on-scene, fluid and debris recovery, traffic control and detour, and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that a white Honda Pilot SUV and a white Toyota 4-Runner were traveling on Long Neck near the sharp curve when the vehicles collided causing significant injury and damage. Additional EMS – both ALS and BLS units – were requested to the incident location.  This section of Long Neck Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Police and Pot Nets Security assisted with traffic control for the duration of the incident.

Additional resources were requested from the Delaware Department of Transportation for sand and absorbent disbursement and a street sweeper for roadway surface reclamation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
