Nature: Vehicle Fire

Location: parking lot of BP gas station

Address:  Banks Rd and Long Neck Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday evening, December 3^rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Banks Road and Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a vehicle with hood propped and smoke coming from out of the hood.

Emergency response units from Indian River were held at their station based upon notification from Deputy Chief 80.

It appears that a vehicle was on the shoulder of roadway overheating when a concerned motorized reported a vehicle fire incident.

All emergency response personnel were authorized to cancel.

What to do if your car is overheating

• Pull over to a safe location as soon as possible.

• Turn the engine off and wait for it to cool down completely (about 15-30 minutes).

• Do not: open the hood if you see smoke, as the rush of oxygen could make the fire worse.

• Call for roadside assistance or a tow truck to have your car inspected.
