Nature: Gas Leak - Second Alarm In the fire district
Location: 25234 Leland Av Walden, DE 19951
On Tuesday, November 25th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a "second alarm within the fire district" gas leak incident on Leland Avenue in the Walden Development off Hollymount Road outside of Harbeson.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Other emergency response units responded to the smoke investigation incident near Oak Orchard.
Emergency response crews were notified while responding to the incident location that a fencing contractor may have hit a gas line while attempting to install fence posts within the area of the residence. The respective utility service provider was enroute to the incident location as well.
It appears that a private contractor was digging and struck the residential gas line feeding the structure causing a gas leak. The gas quickly discontinued to the area pending replacement of the broken line.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated open access to the away pending arrival of emergency apparatus.
All emergency response personnel were authorized to return to their respective stations.
