The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce the progression update for its facility renovation and construction project to update our Long Neck Fire Station as of above publication date.
Project overview:
The construction project is a major renovation and expansion of the fire company's Station #2, designed to meet the growing emergency service demands of Sussex County.
Completion timeline: Construction is expected to be finished by January 2026.
Expanded facilities: The new 16,205-square-foot, 1.5-story station will feature:

Four additional drive-through bays

Funding: The approximately $4 million project ($3.9 million for construction, $477,000 for site work) is largely funded by a capital campaign, as the volunteer company does not receive local taxes or municipal support.
