Nature: MVC – Car versus Bicycle

Location: River Rd and Chief Rd Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday morning, November 7^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Mid Sussex Rescue Squad were alerted for a motor vehicle accident on River Road at Chiefs Road.  It was reported to a car vs. bicycle with one person being unconscious.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and the Delaware State Fire Police as well as the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad.  The Sussex County Paramedics also made a response for this emergency incident as well. 

Emergency response crew assignments included patient stabilization where needed, vehicle stabilization if needed, traffic control and overall incident mitigation efforts.

It appears that both a grey Ford Edge and a bicycle were traveling on River Road approaching Chiefs Road.  The vehicle attempted to turn right onto Chiefs Road when the vehicle and bicycle collided.  The bicyclist needed EMS assistance and was transported to nearby medical facilities.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
