Nature: Vehicle Accident w/Medics & Entrapment
Location: Hollymount Rd and Scottie Rn Harbeson, DE 19951
On Friday afternoon, October 31st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Hollymount Road near Scottie Run outside of Harbeson. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2. It was reported to be a head-on collision.
Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility, Traffic Control 80 from the Harbeson area as well as First Responders from the Millsboro and Indian River fire companies within the immediate vicinity.
Emergency response crews were apprised by the on location first responders of a head-on collision, three vehicles involved and one female trapped. Emergency crews were assigned to prepare for vehicle extrication, vehicle stabilization, patient assessment and stabilization, as well as other mitigating activities which included traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, landing zone assignment, etc.
It appears that a blue Cadillac XT sedan collided with a white Dodge Durango and a white Dodge Charger while traveling on Hollymount Road. The Cadillac and the Charger were significantly impacted by the collision. The entrapment was in the Charger. One person was transported via ambulance to nearby medical facilities and the other person was flown to Christiana Medical Center.
The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated the complete roadway closure of Hollymount Road between Beaver Dam Road and Harbeson Road for the duration of the incident.
The Delaware State Police are investigating.
