Nature: Traffic Collision w/Injuries (Reported Entrapment)

Location: Bay Farm Rd and John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966

On Friday afternoon, October 24^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway east of Bay Farm Road.  Additional emergency alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper 2 as well as Rescue Assistance Assignments from the Lewes (82) and Milton (85) fire departments.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Rescue 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery. And overall incident mitigation activities.

It appears that a white Chevrolet Utility Body Work Truck created a rear-end collision which escalated into four (4) vehicle chain reaction type collision involving a white Jeep Grand Cherokee as well as Blue Ford Escape and Tan Ford Escape.  There was not any occupant entrapment and the additional rescue assist resources were cancelled.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control with the closure of John J. Williams Highway during the mitigation phases of the incident assignments.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
