Nature: Water Rescue – River Road

On Sunday afternoon, October 12^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for water rescue incident involving a vehicle in flood waters, water up to the middle of the doors, and vehicle in the middle of the roadway. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Utility 80-14 (High Water Vehicle) from the Oak Orchard area.

The response unit responded from the Oak Orchard facility, checking for stranded vehicles in the flooded roadway from Station #1 to the Riverdale community where it located a vehicle between Nanticoke Avenue and Cherokee Avenue.

The vehicle was a Dodge Avenger which became disabled in the flooded roadway between Nanticoke Avenue and Cherokee Avenue on River Road.  The vehicle was unoccupied and vacated approximately 1½ hours before the emergency dispatch.  The vehicle was in the process of being towed out by another assisting party.

The emergency response unit notified the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center and was authorized to return to their respective quarters.
