Nature: Fire Prevention Kick Off Event – Rehoboth Beach
Location: Bandstand – Rehoboth Ave
On Sunday, October 5th, the Rehoboth Beach (86) Volunteer Fire Company hosted their Annual Fire Prevention Day around the Bandstand commencing at 10 a.
The event hosted emergency first responders from throughout Sussex County and were able to see fire trucks, firefighters, police officers, EMTs and many more public servants who work hard every day to help keep individuals and families safe. Anyone interested in joining the fire company or another local company including auxiliaries are encouraged to stop by and talk to any member at any respective fire company booth.
Service providers included members of the Sussex County Emergency Medical Services (EMS); fire companies from Indian River, Lewes, and Rehoboth Beach as well as the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, Delaware State Fire School and more.
The 2025 Fire Prevention Theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home." This year’s focus on lithium-ion batteries works to better educate the public about how to buy, charge, and dispose of them safely.
Most of the electronics in our homes — smartphones, tablets, power and lawn tools, laptops, e-cigarettes, headphones, and toys, to name just a few — are powered by lithium-ion batteries. If not used correctly or damaged, they can overheat and start a fire or explode. “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home” provides the information, guidance, and resources needed to use lithium-ion batteries with caution and care.
“Lithium-ion batteries are powerful, convenient, and they’re just about everywhere,” said Lorraine Carli, vice president of Outreach and Advocacy at NFPA. “Making sure the public knows how to handle them safely is critical to minimizing the potential risks they present.”
Thank you for stopping by and joining us throughout the day.
