On Thursday evening, September 18th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a fire alarm sounding in a multi-residential structure on South Gloucester Circle in the Fairfield development off Long Neck Road. It was reported to be a fire alarm going off within the structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Squad 80 as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were notified while responding that the alarm was sounding which discontinued however the occupants smelled an odor of smoke.

All emergency response personnel coordinated an exterior evaluation as well as an interior evaluation.  It was identified as a culinary mishap.

All emergency response units were authorized to return.
