Nature: Automatic Fire Alarm Sounding – Residential Location

Location: 8 Burrwood Ct Highview, DE 19966

On Sunday evening, September 14th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm sounding in a residential structure on Burrwood Court in the Highview development off Long Neck Road.  It was reported to be a fire alarm going off on the second floor of the structure.

Emergency response units from Indian River include Tower 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Squad 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were notified while responding that the alarm was sounding on the second floor with additional directions for response near the residential location.

All emergency response units completed an exterior evaluation and was able to communicate with the occupants of the residential structure.  It was identified that the situation was the batteries end of life chirping situation.

Indian River utilize the opportunity to present the young neighbor that was admiring the firetruck and firefighters with their very own firefighter helmet.

All emergency response units were authorized to return.
