Nature: Structure Fire - Residential (Single)

On Monday evening, August 18^th, the Indian River (80), Lewes (82) and Millsboro (83) fire companies were alerted for a residential structure on Sussex Lane in the Mariner’s Cove development off Long Neck Road. Additional emergency alerts included the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad and the Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15, Tanker 80 and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 and Rescue 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included an initial evaluation by the first arriving apparatus which provided an incident size-up as a double-wide manufactured home with nothing evident from the exterior as well as discussion with the occupants identifying an outside electrical outlet was smoking.  The incident was downgraded to the apparatus on-scene and cancelling all other responding apparatus.

It appears that an electrical outlet was smoking and efforts to determine any extensions into the structure yielded no additional concerns.

All apparatus was authorized to return to their respective stations.
