Nature: Gas Leak

Location: 33291 Marina Bay Circle, The Peninsula, DE 19966

On Monday, July 21^st, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a gas leak incident on Marina Bay Circle, The Peninsula.  It was reported to be an odor of gas inside the residence.

Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew coordinated an exterior and interior evaluation of the residential structure (duplex) and identified a meter reading condition at or near the stove top area. 

After evaluation and testing, it was determined that the cooking stove top has a malfunctioning and mislabeled off / on switch which was left in “off” position but was actual “on”.  The residential occupants were apprised of the situation and requested to notify the rental company and request a service technician for repairs. Assistance was provided with natural ventilation of the residence.

All emergency response units were authorized to return to their respective quarters.
