Nature: Electrical Hazard

Location: 11 Sloan Rd Pinewater Farm, DE 19951

On Saturday evening, July 19^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an electrical hazard within a residential structure. It was reported as all electrical appliances in the structure are going out and there is smell of electrical issue or burning smell with uncertainty of the circumstances.

Emergency responses units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine 80 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews conducted an initial exterior and interior evaluation of the structure and then focus on the electrical odor and concerns present inside the structure. 

There were concerns with electrical surge protectors (overheating, charring and smelling), the electrical breakers were shut-off for isolation of areas of concern as well as removal of the surge protector(s).  The homeowners were apprised to consult an electrician of an overall evaluation.  Assistance was offered for odor extrication.

All emergency response apparatus were authorized to return to their respective stations.
