Indian River Mourns the Passing of Auxiliary Life Member and Fire Company Member – Chere A. Riordan

The Auxiliary and Fire Company of Indian River are saddened to announce the passing of Chere A. Riordan. Chere was a Life Member and former Vice President of the Auxiliary as well as a firefighter of the fire company.

Indian River wishes to offer its condolences and deepest gratitude to the families and loved ones of Chere.

Chere’s tenure in the Delaware Fire Service included service with the following organizations:

• Auxiliary of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company - Tenure:  18 years, 1 month and 15 days

  • Life Member

  • Vice President

• Firefighter with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company - Tenure:  25 years, 7 months and 7 days

  • Assistant Secretary

  • Assistant Chaplain

  • Delaware Firefighter I

  • member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team

  • Chairperson - Fund Drive Committee

• Emergency Medical Technician / Ambulance Attendant with Mid Sussex Rescue Squad - Tenure:  46 years, 3 months and 7 days

  • Life Member

  • Board of Director

  • President

Chere was an active part of the Auxiliary service, Fire Company, and Ambulance Company during her years of volunteerism and taught many courses as an Instructor with the Delaware State Fire School.  Chere served faithfully for many years assisting her community in times of need.
