Wednesday June, 5 2024 @ 18:30Nature: Water Rescue Priority 1Location: Behind 34350 Indian River DrAddress: 34350 Indian River Dr Dagsboro, DE 19939On Wednesday evening, June 5th, the Indian River (80), Millville (84), and Dagsboro (73) fire companies were alerted for a water rescue incident involving two paddle boarders that appeared to be in distress and struggling to get in pursuant to a curious on-looker utilizing a telescope. Additional emergency response alerts included the DNREC Marine Police, the United States Coast Guard – Indian River Squadron, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit pending availability.Emergency response units from Indian River included Brush 80-0 with 80 Marine 2 from the Long Neck facility and Utility 80-8 with 80 Marine 1 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Indian River marine units were to the Pot Nets Bayside boat ramp for launching.Emergency response crew assignments included launch and navigate towards the coordinates identified. Marine units from Indian River and Dagsboro were launched an underway.Tow Boat US contacted the paddle boarders and verified that they were not in distress and not in need of assistance. All marine units were cancelled and allowed to return to their respective quarters.
